Same Assignment
Who becomes President in January matters for a great many reasons, but it doesn’t change one thing about how the people of God are supposed to live in this country.
We are to love God with all that we have.
We must—in humility—champion true justice and embody mercy.
We must “love our enemies, and pray for those who persecute” us.
We must love each other as Jesus loved us, with all the sacrifice that entails.
The best way to do this is to fulfill the final command given to us by our God: his Great Commision.
Whoever sits in the Oval Office changes nothing about these facts. All they change are the details of how we live them out.
We have work to do; let’s keep at it.

Some context feels appropriate. I chose to make this post before viewing the election results. I am now adding this comment a week later, as it feels jarring to go from this to my next post. This is still true; so is what comes next.
